Hey everyone. Dick Cota, a good friend of mine, a person who has always been very nice to me and lives only a mile from my home, suffered a chimney fire today that turned into a house fire. I do not know of total losses, but he is more of an IH enthusiast than I am, and people call me insane. Although not in the thick of the action, I was on scene at 8:15 as I have joined the fire department, and Dick was distraught over the action. The house itself was saved, but has suffered extension smoke damage, actual fire damage, and at -18 degrees today I know extensive ice damage. We had ice all over our equipment when we arrived back to the fire station today, and with all of our equipment we were cold, and all Dick was wearing was sweatpants and a Carhartt jacket. His wife ran to the neighbors in her night gown, poor woman. I plan on going over to see Dick soon, and see if there is anything I can do to help. However, as you can imagine, his personal belongings, clothes, and other things he had in his house are either very smokey or, God have mercy, gone. His losses were kept to a minimal, but they must be upsetting nonetheless. Please pray for Dick and his family this week. Thanks.
