My grandfather has a 450 diesel. When it starts on gas it smokes a little (white smoke) and then when you switch it over to diesel it continues to smoke (white smoke). The smoke gets a little better after it has warmed up but does not go away. Does this mean that the head is cracked or is there something else. I have read that if the head is cracked it is expensive to repair. The tractor is complete and straight everywhere else. If it is the head, is it worth having it repaired or does the whole engine need to be junked? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.
