It seems to me that greed and arrogance breeds politicians. In my area every year or so some Dumb*** in the local government says "Hey would everybody like to have a nice big new Library or skateboard park" and the citizens are stupid enough to think that it will be free. And it gets voted it. Two years ago a big library was built and it looks like a palace. The only way to get good politicians it seems is to watch them like a hawk, dont allow new projects that eat tax dollars and dont allow them to build new firestations, librarys, bikepaths, and to only allow them to be voted in one time.
