I have a '55 farmall 400 gas, and believe that it is all adjusted right. When the TA is foreward, and you push the clutch in, the TA is automatically pulled back upfront. But then when you put it in gear, and let the clutch out, first the engine clutch starts to grab, than you let it out further, then the ta clutch grabs on the highside. I guess my question is why is the TA put in the low side when you push the clutch in? Does it hurt anything if the links between the clutch and the TA are off? I know that you would have to make something to hold the throw-out bearing against the levers on the TA clutch. What does it help by puting it in the low side?
