I don't recall the price for a bale of hay in 1950. However, I do know that we paid 10 cents per bale for custom baling. We did all ourselves except the baling. For some reason, my Dad never owned a baler. Always had it done by someone else. Probably because there were 3 of us and that was not enough help to do it all. We put up more than 5000 bales every year and filled three silos.
