Thanks to all of you who helped with info on width adjustments on the Farmall B I hauled from Texas to Florida. All went well and the tractor is now residing in my barn.
I was doing some tune up work to get the B up and running and cleaned all of the old crud and grease out of the magneto. I'm new to magnetos (my other Farmalls all have distributors), but noted that the Blue Ribbon Service Manual for magnetos calls for IHC Magneto grease.
I have Mobile synthetic grease in my gun and generally use that on cars trailers and other equipment. I would have used the same on the magneto without a second thought if the manual said "grease the gears etc., with a good quality grease". But the book was quite specific and insisted on IHC Magneto Grease. Are there specific qualities that magneto grease must have to prevent wear? Can you still get IHC Magneto Grease? If not what is the acceptable substitute?
As always, thanks for all of your responses. Once I finally figure out how to post a picture, I'll drop a picture of the B.
