Are you talking about the tension on the throttle?? There is a friction plate adjustment on the right hand side of the engine block. The MD throttles are usually pretty tight and take quite a bit of force to move. That friction plate housing has all the latches, etc it in for the gas to diesel switch over. I strongly suggest you get a manual. I'd get all three, the parts catalog, the operators manual and the service manual.
