Farmall H Electrical Problems

I have a '41 H. Wires are good, relay is good,cables are heavy.. but it seems like the only way I can get it started is with a jump/charger. I replaced the battery and everything. With a fully charged battery on its own, it doesnt have enough juice to turn the starter motor even once. Also, after I get it running for a while (a multimeter shows the system is charging.) When I shut the H off with the kill switch it keeps running! I have to push it in and pull it out several times to finally get the engine to die. Whats wrong?
