As a new "old iron" owner, I took a group of dads and daughters on a short hayride through the pasture last night. Not sure who had a bigger time - the girls or myself! Ended the evening roasting marshmallows around the fire. I do have a question though. I have a 1940 M that is still 6v. It seems that even running full throttle the battery won't stay charged enough to start the tractor once it is turned off. I didn't really run the lights but just to flip on then back off to make sure I was still in the ruts. I primarily used a flashlight. It has a new starter and new battery cables and with a fresh battery turns over quickly and starts easily. But once turned off, the tractor turns over very slowly and most times won't start. However, after sitting overnight, I can get it started again. Is the problem that the generator is not strong enough to keep the battery charged? If so, what are the options for fixing it? Kevin
