Not really rare, gas start M diesel made starting about 1941+, 450 was following model to MD/superMD mid 50s. Check archives - interesting head design, 3 valves, separate gas combustion chamber. John Deere and others diesel at that time had small gas engine (pony motor) to start the diesel engine, IHC used 1 engine block with more complicated casting of head, less physical difference between gas and diesel tractor.
