All of the -4, -6, and -9 tractors were standard tread. They were avalible as W- , or Wheatland tractor; O- , or Orchard (I don't think they built an O-9); and I- , or Industrial. The row-crop version of the -4 and -6 were the Farmall H and M (no row-crop version of the -9). The gas-start diesels had a small gas tank, a carb, and a spark-ignition system on them, and a third valve in each cylinder called the decompression valve. In gas mode, the decompression valve was held open to lower the compression ratio to allow gasoline to be burnt. The engine was started on gasoline, allowed to warm up, and then switched to diesel mode. No three-point hitch on any IH tractor of that era. Three-point didn't get common on IH's until the early 1960's. Just one question- why did you mention Continental in your first post, the only thing they ever built for IH was the diesel engine in the 350.
