Gary, Your problem describes to one I had several months ago. My problem turned out to be the inline fuel line filter at the elbow where the fuel enters the carborator. I had taken this apart once and it look OK and I could get fuel to flow thru it. However it was the problem. Several weeks later I took it loose again and blew hard on it with my mouth leaving the open end sticking out with my hand covering this opening and I could beleive the scale that came out of that screen filter. Fixed the problem, you may want to try this.
