Having recently purchased a "slightly" running 1935 F-20, I am getting ready for some surgery to the engine as part of the restoration process. The head is being planned to be overhauled as the compression test is coming back at 60 psi wet or dry on 3 cylinders, and 45 psi on the 4th. Provided piston-to-cylinder clearance is within spec, rings will be replaced also. Question is, how much pressure is good enough, and how much should it be if it were in perfect shape? Also, do compression tests have different resulting values when the engine is hand versed electrically cranked during the test? Thanks guys !
