Scott, I don't know if I would put too much heat on that as there are ball bearings and sleeve bearings inside. I would keep trying with wrenches. I always hate it when someone uses a chisel to take something off instead of using the right wrench. Sounds like you need a trip to the salvage yard for some good used parts. My MD water pump was really in bad shape as the water pump center shaft had frozen to the bushing and the bushing was turning inside causing all kinds of damage. I found a water pump at the salvage yard and used parts from both to make a rebuilt one along with some new parts from Case IH. As for the packing, eventually all the packing disintegrates and appears like there is none in there. I can't remember how many packings I put in my water pump, but I thought it was like four of five. Roger
