Ok, I have the water pump off the tractor. Did find it much easier to do with the radiator off as the bolts required a lot of persuasion to remove. Thanks to the achieves I was able to get the brass packing nut off without much trouble. Looks as if some one has been in here before. Not much left of the packing nut after some one else went at it with a chisel. Same problem with the bearing retaining nut--some one has taken a chisel to that. This is really stuck (must be why some one else went at it with a chisel)and I have not been able to get the nut to budge. Would applying enough heat to get the nut white damage any other components in the pump? Or am I just going to have to get a bigger pipe wrench? Also, I have the same question about the packing as the person about the H water pump--I was under the impression that the packing was under the packing nut (?) when I removed the packing nut there was nothing there. Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!!
