This concerns an M; Under steady load, if you look closely, you can see see faint black smoke from the stack. Not a cloud or a trail or a column, just enough to see right arount the stack. My nose also tells me it's running rich, however if I lean the main jet from where I have it set now it will stumble whenever the governor opens the throttle under a load increase. Also when the throttle is opened either manually or via the governor, the smoke is more visible until the RPM stabilizes. No smoke at idle but smells rich. With the engine off and fuel tank on there's no flooding. It can sit all day with the fuel on and not drip once from the carb. I realize that 30's technology did not result in the pinnacle of carbuerator evolution, however, not having driven all types and makes of tractors over a period of years I don't know if faint smoke is "all systems go". From those of you with a lot of actual field hours in your logbook, what do you think?
