Not to state the obvious, but did you put your finger in the spark plug hole to make sure it was on the compression stroke? Looking won't tell you anything. Is the mag good? Has the front end of the engine been torn down--i.e., if not put back together correctly, the mag drive gear could be out of time? You might try the archives, too, if you don't get any other suggestions. Good luck!
