Converting an Oil Bath Filter to a Paper Filter.

Just wondering if anyone has converted their oil bath filter to an air filter that uses a paper element? Since my "H" is for work rather than show and most, if not all, the manufactures have gone to paper elements, I'm thinking that a paper element would be more efficient and less of a mess to deal with on a daily basis. Of course if I did change to paper I would keep the oil bath system for restoration purposes as I did the generator when I replaced it with a 6-volt alternator. Any thoughts on the subject? Pros or Cons? Thanks,
