Timing has nothing to do with this as there is no sparkafter shutting of the switch. Early farmalls were prone to dieseling , especially after being worked hard. There may be carbon in the cylinder holding heat and igniting the fuel mix, or the exhausdt valves could be hot yet from running hard. let it idle a few minutes before shutting it off, and if it still does it, put it in high gear, hold the brakes, and let out the clutch, it will stop.Later gas tractors had a solenoid on the main carburetor adjustment to shut the fuel completely off when the switch was off to eliminate this problem.
