I would be surprised if Case-IH didn't have the gasket, they still have more parts than you would expect for the older tractors. Feeler guages is what you should use. Check clearance between the rocker arm and the top of the valve stem. The valves need to be closed (piston on TDC compression stroke when you set the clearance. Watch as you turn the engine over- when cylinder #4's exuast valve is closing and it's intake valve is opening (overlap), piston numer 1 will be on TDC and cylinder #1's valves are ready to be set. Turn the engine over 180 degrees in direction of rotaition (clockwise when looking at the engine from the front) and set #3's valves, another 180 and set #4's valves, another 180 and set #2's valves. You can run the engine with the valve cover off to see if oil is getting up there. The valves are set with the engine running on some John Deere's.
