question about serial #

I've found a guy that has what he thinks is left of a Farmall C. I've got a Farmall A that needs an engine block. Are these interchangeable? I have no idea of the model year for either one. Can I tell off serial numbers? Where would I find the Serial number on the Farmall A that I have and the Farmall C at his place. Please advise and thanks in advance. He only wants 200 bucks for the block and said that he'd pull it for me. Good deal, right? thanks again
