The D-310 and D-358 are German. Very, very good engines. We have a 786 with the D-358, 7,400 hrs., never been touched, runs like new; and a 686 with the D-310, 6,600 hrs. runs just as good. The D-310 is found in late 706's, 756, late 715 Combines, and late 686's. The D-358 is found in the 826, 786, late 886's, 3088, 3288, and 1420 Combines. I wouldn't be surprised if the heads were the same, since almost everything interchages on German Diesels.
The D-312 and D-360 are American built, and similar to the D-414, D-436, and D-466. The D-312 is found in the 666 and early 686's. The D-360 is found in the 766 and early 886's. The D-358 German and D-360 American don't look anything alike, you're probably looking at a late 886.
