TA noise

I have a noise coming from the TA on a 756 Farmall. The noise (sounds like metal hitting metal) will stop when I push the little butterfly forward (the one that is moved forward when the clutch is pushed in).

Do you think this noise would be from a bearing or gears.

I have never worked on a TA and I am wondering what I am getting myself in for. I do not have a service manual on the TA nor do I have an exploded view of it. Is there either on the net some where.

The HI and LO TA work just fine other than this clanking noise. Also wondering if I could just keep this butterfly pushed forward until I get a chance to fix the problem. What would the effect of this be.
