Farmall M won't turn over.

Ok, here is the story. About year and four months ago, me and my dad tore our pullin M down and decided to bore it. Got it apart and the head was cracked in five new places{fixed 6 times before}, so we replaced it with the only head we could find, a 450 head. Got it back together, had a few major problems with the carb, but they are fixed now. And then the hard part came. We went to hook to wiring up, and we forgot how!! Got a **** alternator on it, which my dad and I never liked, and that screwed us up. After about an hour, we thought we had it hooked up right, hit the starter, nothing. The battery was charged, but it movered the fan just a little. What could be my problem? Any information or steps on how to wirer this tractor is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
