Just how much is too much?

First let me start by saying thanks to all who have answered my questions. I would not be this far on the tractor if not for the information and help gained from the people on this board. I have been working on my 400 now for a while. And while it seems that I am making progress, I did a little accounting last night. Including the cost of the tractor, I am into this over $2800.00 and have not touched the engine, clutch, or TA. I am starting to wonder if I should put the money into having the those rebuilt. The tractor does run well and the TA works. If not rebuilding then the tractor is just about ready for paint. Sheet metal will get taken to the local auto body shop for paint. Rest I will paint myself. I guess the only reason for painting the tractor is to preserve the sheet metal and to make it look nice driving down the road.
This tractor will spend its time working in the yard, pulling a harrow, disk, and sometimes a bush hog in the pastures, rest of the time pulling a wagon. Maybe sometime later I would like to learn how to plow with the tractor. Guess my question is how far should one go when trying to fix-up a working tractor? Thanks for your thoughts.
