Do I need a keyed ignition switch on M for 12 volt conversion?

I am converting my M to 12 volt and have seen diagrams that I need to put a keyed ignition switch in . It does have a mag if that would make a difference. I have already picked up an alternator and wire, but would like to keep the push/pull switch if possible.
