Cub problems

Could someone tell me if Cubs were positive ground or negative ground? Mines about a 1970 model. (I bought it last year and it had this problem from the beginning)I can put a hot battery in it. Crank it and run about 5-10 minutes and the tractor engine goes dead. The battery is totally drained at that point. (tried another battery also)This happens everytime. It is hooked up on negative ground. Someone told me I may have the battery hooked up backwards. Any ideas? What would draw it down that fast?
