Alternators are externally excited which means you have to have an external source of energy to get them to start charging initually.Once the alternator starts to charge the first time they will continue to charge until you shut the tractor off.Try jumping the battery then hook up the alternator and it should charge.We need to know which delco alternator you have to be able ro help you with the wiring.
