I think they are spot welded, not sure. I wouldn't take it apart. If it is severely dented you are better off with a different one. Otherwise drill some small holes in it and pull the dents out with a slide hammer. I used JB Weld to fill the holes and smoothed the imperfections with Bondo. I don't even remember where the dents were.
