Between the three of them they would eat a generator a starter and a voltage regulator every year. I put a 6v alternator on the C five years ago, and on one super C the year after. The second Super C was demoted to roll start and run all day if at all,(magneto ignition). I have not had to do anything to either of the alternators, and they cost me only 20 bucks each more than a new regulator, which was what convinced me to buy them in the first place. The tractors also seem to start and run better, and the alternator will keep up with the sealed beam headlights that I have on the C.
