Greg - Go ahead and use the 15W-40. You'll find the tractor will start easier in cold weather, and use less oil when hot than when running straight 30 oil. We use 15W-40 in all our diesel stuff (and gas engines too)....some of them dating back to the early-50's. Keep in mind also that lube oil technology has advanced dramatically since your B-275 was designed. The lube properties of even cheap, present day 15W-40 are far superior to that of the best straight weight oils available in 1960.
