It can be done, but is a lot of work. You will basically need all parts from a 400 series engined tractor (ie: the 66 and 86 series). Frame rails, bellhousing, I think the flywheel and clutch, plus the injector pump and throttle linkage are different (on the opposite side I think). Personally, I think the D407 and DT407 are awesome engines, we haven't had one bit of trouble with our 1256 engine - actually the only thing we have ever fixed is the clutch (has 7600 hrs).
