By adding an external coil you didnot make it a dist it is still a mag so set the points at the mag setting you better check that the rotor lines up with the terminals on the cap and that you have it in the proper registration #1 firing pos for the rotor is at about 2oclock. The cap has the #1 pos marked. Make sure that #1 piston is on firing tdc look in the cycl and you can see the piston will be up and mark on flywheel is at the bottom, You can be 180 out if not done correctly. Turn over with finger in hole and there will be pressure as piston is raised.
