Bob: I have been out tinkering with 140 since lunch. Tried your earlier suggestion and definatly have a short in regulator. After discovering that we removed the cap from regulator and found one of the cutouts welded shut. I freed it up and was able to get a positive charge on ampmeter. I take it from that my generator is working. In the past I have always given up right quick on these generator regulator systems and went to alternator. However after reading the many posts by you and others, I am determined to make this 6 volt, positive ground, generator system work. I made a new set of plastic shields for starter switch out my expired health card. Like you say however, for the cost it is probably better to put a new one on. I think I will venture a bit of a trip to CaseIH dealer if their open tomorrow. Not just sure on staying power of battery either. I think its time to load test it. Thank you for your input, it is as always valued. Hugh.
