Looks as though nobody else is going to take a stab at this, so I'll offer my 2 cents. I know absolutely nothing about the differences, if any, between the front covers on the 300U and 350 Farmall engines, but I do know that the basic engines are the same (the C-169 in the 300 series was bored out to become the C-175 in the 350 series). Assuming that there is some difference in the front covers, I'd expect that maybe $10 worth of gaskets would allow you to swap the cover off the 300U engine onto the good engine from the otherwise defunct Farmall 350, and you'd be set. Surely beats the heck out of rebuilding the 300U engine, which you'd have for parts. You'll probably end up swapping the manifold as well as these were different on the standard utility tractors from the ones used on the Farmalls. While you've got things torn apart, make sure the rear main and clutch are good; major cost of fixing either is spliting the tractor, and you'll already have it in that state. LOL.

Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos
