Water temperature gauge adjustment

Earlier this year my son and I did a top end overhaul on my Farmall 450. At the same time I took the radiator off for repairs of some leaks. (Well, turned out I had to put in a new core - ouch! that hurt.)I also replaced the thermostat and water temperature gauge. Now, even when working the tractor hard, plowing or disking, the temperature only gets up into the "COLD" range, and has never made it into the "RUN" range. Before starting the tractor at all, the gauge needle is way off to the left, really pegged, and now I am wondering if I need to adjust the meter, and if so, how?
