Hey Doug. I have a 53 SM sn 27223, so we have nearly identical tractors. Here's what I have to say, even though I don't really know. I have a 52 ad describing the "New Super M" and it mentions the new tranny. I also know that my Super M abuses my grandpa's 46 M in speed. Absolutely hands down faster. I haven't been able to compare field speeds, but right now I really don't have any reason to doubt the tranny in my SM. I will be keeping an eye on your post to see what someone else says.
