I'm overhauling the electrical system on my H now (previous owner converted it to 12V but did a poor job and nothing works). I just purchased a "new", rebuilt Nippon Denso alternator on e-bay for $40. I haven't received it yet but it is smaller than the 5-6 inch standard housing diameter of most alternators. I understand they will fit under the hood without any problem, and better yet, they fit on the existing mounting bracket without modification. I will need to fabricate the tightening bracket attached to the thermostat housing. When I get the alternator I'm going to take it to the auto parts store and find out what model and year car it fits. I can give you more information then, e-mail me if you want the specifics.
