Yes, you are correct. Should have looked at the parts book before I posted that. The inner seal is in the axle housing, so if the gasket between the transmission housing and the axle housing is bad, it would leak oil from the transmission. I agree, it looks like you can't slide out the axle housing without taking the axle loose from the bull gear, so the axle is going to have to be removed to fix the leak. If I was doing this job, I would certainly replace both of the axle seals while I was into it. I apologize for the bad info.
