A engine sticks on occasion

My 42 A engine sometimes gets stuck and I can't turn it over with the handcrank. then with a small push it frees up and I can then turn the crank and it start fine. The same thing with the electric start too. On occasion it won't turn over like the motor sieze up and then all of a sudden it unstucks and turns over and starts. I think something is loose in the starter motor or somewhere else but I don't have clue how to pull the starter and check for whatever may be loose. Could the magneto be loose too and what do I do to tighten things down? What causes the engine to get stuck after I park it on occasion? Dick
