560 sputters and dies under load

I have a IH 560 gasser that after it gets warmed up and has any type of load on it will start sputtering. It won't do this if it is just sitting and idolling. The only way to keep it running is to pull out the choke and wait for minute or so. If the machine does die, it will start right back up again. This will at least get me back home. I have replaced the coil, condensor, points had the carb refurbished and put a clear gas line on it to make sure it is still getting fuel. I have been told that the intake/exhaust manifold may need to be replaced. Anyone heard of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
