You can buy a single wire 10SI. Installation is a bit more simple. That's on the plus side. The two negatives are: 1) A single wire alternator will cost more $$$. 2) A single wire alternator generally needs more RPM to start charging than a conventional 10SI alternator. On a tractor, extra RPM is harder to develop. To wire a regular 10SI, you can put the light in if you choose. If you don't want the light there, you can substitute a diode (usually a 1N4001 or such) and a 47 ohm, 2 watt resistor. Tie the resistor and diode in series. Have the "band" side of the diode facing the alternator #1 connection. The beauty of a conventional 10SI is that they can be had at many junkyards for about $10. Maybe even as much as $39, rebuilt, at an auto parts store. You'll pay maybe $79 or more for a good single wire alternator.

Paint is another, the modern acrylic enamels are great for resistance to grease and fuel stains, retaining their shine and they last forever; unlike enamels and lacquers . Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos
