I was always of the opinion that 544 had lower link sencing, at least the Farmall model does. I have never been close up on one of these, but literature describes it the same as 656. On the 656 that I had top link was rigid. Old sales literature I have, pictures this the same as 656. Maybe the utility model is different.

If it is top link sencing, none of your controll levers move the top link. The implement moves it and all the lever does is create adjustment of the sensitivity of draft.
