The majority of all IH tractors were sold with TA option in upper midwest, the south was where most were not, we are changing over some of them to non TA and most of the salvage yards tell us that is where they get the used parts. The rear axles did have options in length and size, they started this on the 300/350 series, 2.5" was std, same as H-SuperH, the option was 2.75" od, same as M-through 686, length was 38 or 45, 39 or 45 on larger. They even made a heavy truss to run under the belly of rear frame on light axles for H-350 that had big bearings mounted to axles to stiffen the tractor when mounted pickers were used.
