Whoa!!!!! When putting in new rod and main bearings, the first thing is to get a good machinist with a GOOD set mikes and have him check the crank for size and out of roundest. My book shows the max out roundest on a C-175 engine of 0.003 and the bearing clearance of .0004-0.0035 and a maximum of 0.005 Unless you like rebuilding engines every time you use the tractor, keep the shims out of the engine. The plastic gauge should be use when checking the final assy clearance and is very accurate and do not rotate the bearing when using it. John In Iowa
