Instead of brute force and a breaker bar, use an impact wrench set on the medium setting to start out with. The impact wrench does a good job of jarring things loose without breaking them. After breaking several bolts off myself I have switched to the impact for disassembly and haven't broke any yet! Also, a little heat goes a long way - heat the nut and then use the impact.
