We had this happen to one of our 1066 some time ago. It didn,t do it all the time but only once in a while when warning up, No high on the T.A.,Short on brakes and hard to steer till it warmed up 10/15 minutes. Even with a new filter in it.

When we removed the pump cover the drive key on the pump was sheered so the gear was turning but not the pump till it finaly would catch and drive the pump. We replaced the pump since it showed lots of wear and also repacked the mcv block. Its been ok for around 10yrs now. Good Luck
