Hi Dave. The F-4 mag fit several tractors. I think it fit on most of the F series Farmall tractors. The F-12, F-14, F-20, and F-30. Probably even fit on the wheatland versions and trac versions of the same era. One or more of these models apparently must have a different base on the mag, but other than the base it is probably the same mag. You just need to find the right base. The old regulars didn't originally come out with the F-4 mag but I think the mags could be interchanged between the F-20 and the regular. About the impulse and timing. There shouldn't be a pawl to lock out impulse. But here is a trick for timing. Stick a nail or peace of wire in the oiling cap in the front of mag. The nail will not allow the cog to create impulse.
