The binding could be caused by a bad pilot bearing. Or maybe the dump valve and trans brake need adjusting.

When you go to look at it, push the clutch in hold it in and count to 15. Then try to shift into gear, if it grinds or binds, chances are it's the pilot bearing rather than a misadjustment.
