broke spindle

I was feeding with my 806 yesterday and had to run over some now dry but deep ruts (mud ruts) and I saw something disturbing...my right front wheel was drifting. I guess the spindle is broke in the axle. Anyone had any luck tapering and welding these or is a salvage run my best move. I hesitate to go to a bone yard because I always buy 50X more than I went for and end up broke. Thanks.
